There is a next day and another

how will you carry on with each other ?

The black hides the monarch inside,

no sound,no move, statue like

this tyranny we cannot bear

I hear the drums at night

no dirt,no blood

no signs of guilt

but you feel it

like a scarlett letter

who's the winner doesn't matter

on the battlefield of hate

your performance was so convincing

but from a distance

it shows you are shrinking

into disgrace 

it's not the truth of events

the evidence or facts

that provide applause

but kindness

A bitter aftermath

will greet you

silence from left and right
a long walk from here
in an unkind daylight

the next day will be
a walk thru a neverending desert
another day
